Ultrahuman Aims to Reclaim U.S. Market with Redesigned Smart Ring

Ultrahuman has launched its latest smart ring, the Ring Pro, as part of a strategy to re-enter the U.S. market following a patent dispute with competitor Oura. The Bengaluru-based company unveiled the Ring Pro, which boasts a 15-day battery life and a redesigned form factor, priced at $479. Pre-orders are open globally, except in the U.S., with shipments expected to start in March.

Ultrahuman, founded in 2019, has been a key player in the wearable tech space, focusing on health and fitness tracking. The new Ring Pro features a dual-core processor and redesigned heart-rate sensing architecture, enhancing data accuracy and on-device computing. It can store up to 250 days of health data and includes a Pro Charger for extended battery life and wireless charging. Alongside the Ring Pro, Ultrahuman introduced Jade, a real-time biointelligence system providing personalized health insights.

### Context and Competition

The company’s U.S. operations faced a setback in October 2025 when the U.S. International Trade Commission ruled in favor of Oura in a patent dispute, halting new inventory imports. This was a significant blow, as the U.S. accounted for 45% of Ultrahuman’s 700,000 daily active users. Despite this, Ultrahuman filed a counter-suit against Oura in the Delhi High Court. The company continues to operate with an annualized revenue run rate of $150 million, although litigation and redesign costs are impacting profit margins.

### Market Implications

The smart ring market is experiencing rapid growth, with global shipments increasing nearly 80% year-over-year in 2025. Ultrahuman holds the second position in market share, trailing behind Oura. Analysts suggest future leaders will be defined by sensor accuracy and AI-driven insights. Ultrahuman’s key markets include the UK, Canada, Australia, and India, with Canada being a significant contributor to its revenue. The company is expanding production capacity to meet anticipated demand for the Ring Pro.

As Ultrahuman seeks to navigate its legal challenges and regain its foothold in the U.S., the success of the Ring Pro and its innovative features will be crucial in determining its future market position. The company’s efforts to integrate advanced technology and expand globally highlight its commitment to remaining competitive in the burgeoning wearable tech industry.
