Air Transat will deploy Montréal startup StratosX’s X360 platform across its operations centre to manage flight disruptions, the companies announced Thursday.
X360 pairs predictive modelling and generative AI with Air Transat’s internal operations data to recommend how aircraft, crews and passengers should be rerouted when disruptions occur. Rather than selecting the first workable fix, the system is designed to identify the fastest recovery path, whether that means rebooking passengers or reallocating reserve crews.
The Cost Behind The Deal
Flight disruptions cost airlines an estimated US$60 billion annually, according to StratosX chief commercial officer Joshua Goring.
Air Transat reported a net loss of C$79 million in its second quarter, about C$50 million worse than the same period in 2025, amid fuel price pressures and operational disruptions. In summer 2025, 8.7 million Canadian passengers faced disruptions, largely tied to the Air Canada worker strike.
Air Transat COO Marc-Philippe Lumpé said in a statement that
