Magic Potion Games has raised a Series A round as its game Imagine Island exits beta with more than one million players, the Kelowna, BC studio said.
Konvoy led the round, joined by 1AM Gaming, 1Up Ventures, GFR Fund, Goodwater Capital, and Wheelhouse Venture. The amount was not disclosed.
Founders Stephen MacDonald, Karin Johnson, and Sascha Williams met while working on Club Penguin. Imagine Island targets children aged 6-13 with quest-based gameplay and social features in a moderated, COPPA-compliant environment, positioned as an alternative to Roblox, which has faced scrutiny over child safety.
The advisory board includes Bungie founder Alex Seropian and Club Penguin co-founder Lane Merrifield.
