Toronto Tech Week has announced a new two-year partnership with the City of Toronto, opening host applications for its 2026 edition. The event, hailed as Canada’s largest grassroots tech gathering, aims to build on the success of its inaugural year, which attracted over 15,000 attendees and featured 500 speakers.
### Expanding Support and Sponsorship
Toronto Tech Week has secured new supporting sponsors, including Osler, Bell, and Ada, alongside returning founding sponsors Shopify, Google for Startups, and the City of Toronto. Mayor Olivia Chow emphasized the city’s commitment to fostering innovation and economic growth through this partnership. “Toronto is a global tech hub, and that means real jobs, real growth, and real economic impact to neighbourhoods throughout the city,” Chow stated.
### Event Structure and Goals
The event organizers aim to replicate the vibrant atmosphere of the previous year, with Toronto transforming into a citywide event space. Mell Truong, a founding organizer, explained that the week is designed to offer diverse experiences, from founder dinners to workshops and panels. The 2026 edition is expected to host over 300 independently organized events, supported by more than 120 community partners, including Golden Ventures and 1Password.
### Industry Impact and Future Developments
Toronto Tech Week emerged to fill the gap left by Collision’s move to Vancouver, quickly establishing itself as a key event for showcasing Canadian tech innovation. The week’s anchor event, the Most Ambitious Town Hall, will return, featuring the release of the annual BetaKit Most Ambitious report. Organizers plan to announce further programming details and partner updates in the coming months. Interested parties can apply to host events through the Toronto Tech Week website.
The continued growth and support for Toronto Tech Week highlight the city’s role as a burgeoning tech hub, drawing attention from global innovators and investors. As the event evolves, it promises to further position Toronto as a leader in the tech industry.
