Google DeepMind Opens Access to AI-Powered Project Genie
Google DeepMind has unveiled Project Genie, an AI tool designed to create interactive game worlds from text prompts or images. As of Thursday, Google AI Ultra subscribers in the U.S. can experiment with this research prototype, which combines DeepMind’s Genie 3, Nano Banana Pro, and Gemini technologies.
Project Genie: A New Frontier
Project Genie allows users to generate virtual worlds through simple text inputs or images, crafting environments that can be explored in either first- or third-person view. The tool, while still experimental, aims to gather user feedback and training data to refine its capabilities. Users start by providing prompts, and the system generates a visual representation, which can be modified before a fully interactive world is created. However, the tool currently limits users to 60 seconds of world navigation due to computational constraints.
